The Adagio in G minor, attributed to Albinoni and reconstructed by Remo Giazotto in 1958, is one of the most emotionally overwhelming pieces of quasi-Baroque music ever written — its slow, ascending melody conveying profound pathos. On a steel tongue drum those long, climbing notes ring with a sorrowful beauty that perfectly suits the instrument's naturally expressive sustain. Few pieces are more deeply moving.
